Children from 33 countries and regions throughout the Asian-Pacific Rim are invited to participate every year. This year, a total of 322 students are scheduled to attend.

The Governor encouraged the student ambassadors to keep in mind the role they will play as representatives of the State.

"Everyone will form opinions about Hawai`i based on how you interact with and treat others," she said. "After meeting you today, I am sure they will have a great opinion of us."

Since 2005, the Governor has met with the junior ambassadors before they leave and upon their return to hear the students' impressions about Japan and their home-stay exchange experience.

The 20th APCC Hawai`i Delegation includes four boys and four girls.
