GOVERNOR RELEASES FUNDING FOR NEW SIGNAGE AT HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

For Immediate Release:  December 10, 2004

HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released nearly $714,000 to improve signage at Honolulu International Airport. The project, which is also receiving more than $661,000 in federal funding, is scheduled for completion by July 2005.

“The release of funds for the signage program is a part of Hawai`i’s overall goal to improve customer satisfaction at Honolulu International Airport,” said Marsha Wienert, the state’s tourism liaison. “The new signage will create a user-friendly environment that will enable our visitors to easily navigate through the airport.”

The signage project will involve installing directories throughout the airport and parking structure. Directional way-finding signs will direct passengers to the ticket lobbies, gates, agriculture and security checkpoints, restaurants, airline lounges, baggage claim areas and ground transportation.
