WEEKLY RADIO ADDRESS – CHINA-KOREA MISSION - June 24, 2005
Announcer: Now, Governor Linda Lingle's Weekly Radio Address (:56)
Aloha!
Recently, I had the honor of leading a 190-member delegation on a business mission to China and Korea.
We pursued opportunities for Hawai`i companies to do business in Asia, while encouraging investments in our state.
We worked to expand business markets, and share expertise in fields such as architecture and tourism development.
Agreements were signed to establish the state’s first high-technology office outside of Hawai`i, as well as promote our unique culture and arts.
We made progress in enhancing Hawai`i’s role in higher education and research by forging partnerships involving the University of Hawai`i and BYU-Hawai`i.
Finally, we had the honor of visiting military men and women from Hawai`i serving our nation in Seoul, Korea.
This mission was part of our continuing outreach to position Hawai`i to have a larger presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
These partnerships with Asia will strengthen our state’s economic momentum and ensure lasting, long-term benefits for Hawai`i.
Mahalo. This is Governor Linda Lingle.
