Hawai`i Regarded as 
Leader on Global Stage

As part of an ongoing commitment to expand Hawai`i's role in a growing global economy, Governor Lingle participated in "Facing Tomorrow," an historic conference in Israel that examined how the global future is envisioned in different parts of the world, particularly as nations strive to work together while still maintaining their independence and uniqueness.

Hawaiian Home Lands 

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) broke ground this week on the
$17.3 million East-West Collector Road in East Kapolei that will dramatically improve the quality of life for area residents.

Providing Humanitarian Assistance in Asia

Admiral Timothy Keating, commander, United States Pacific Command, traveled aboard the first U.S. relief
flight into Burma this week, delivering supplies in the
wake of Cyclone Nargis.

Visiting Yad Vashem

While in Israel this week, Governor Lingle visited Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust, to pay her respects to the six million adults and children who were killed.
