New Laws Protect, Support
Hawai`i Foster Children

Continuing the Lingle-Aiona Administration's commitment to protect and support foster children and the families who care for them, Governor Lingle signed two bills that help foster youth maintain relationships with their relatives and hanai families, as well as assist the youth in meeting their higher education goals.

Hawaiian Home Lands

The department joined Hawai`i Debartolo LLC in announcing it has finalized an agreement to develop a multi-million dollar shopping center complex that will improve the quality of life for Leeward O`ahu residents.

Soldiers from Schofield Barracks' 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment recently visited Pohakuloa Training Area on the Big Island, where they participated in a time-sensitive target training mission.

Governor Lingle presided over the swearing-in ceremony for 259 O`ahu residents who have been appointed or reappointed to serve on state boards and commissions.
