In preparation for their deployment, soldiers have participated in the Brigade War Fighter Exercise; cultural training in Jordan; theater engagements with Japan, Singapore and Indonesia; ongoing missions in the Philippines, state support missions for floods, fires and earthquakes; fielding new equipment; and two annual training events in Hawai`i and California, along with hundreds of pre-mobilization tasks.

"The level of professionalism and competence on display is awe-inspiring, and these same traits will ensure our success, not just in training, but also in the crucible of combat," BDE Commander Colonel Bruce Oliveira said in a message to the troops.

Once in Kuwait, soldiers will participate in three missions: some units will provide Force Protection, or security, at several installations in Kuwait, while other units will be the Camp Command Cell, performing duties for installations around Kuwait, and finally, some units will be the security force for units convoying north to Iraq.
