Navy Volunteers Help Preserve Waimea Valley
Sailors assigned to the Navy amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) cleared debris from a path that had been overrun by vines at Waimea Valley botanical gardens.
Bonhomme Richard is in Hawai`i to participate in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2008 exercises. RIMPAC is the world's largest multinational exercise scheduled biennially by the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Participants include the United States, Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, the Netherlands, Peru, Republic of Korea, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
