Operation Gift Lift Supports Soldiers

During this holiday season, Hawai`i residents are encouraged to participate in "Operation Gift Lift" and share the spirit of aloha with Hawai`i-based soldiers from the 29th Brigade Combat Team and the 100th Battalion, 442nd Regiment who are deployed overseas.

Operation Gift Lift Supports Soldiers

Students display cards they will send to deployed Hawai`i soldiers.

Donations are currently being sought for the program, which runs through December 10. The items collected will be distributed among the 2,000 members of the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team now serving in Kuwait as Task Force Lava Thunder.

Suggested items include:

  • Hawaiian CDs (new or used)
  • DVDs (new or used)
  • Candies
  • Zip lock bags for storage of snacks
  • Powder mixes for water - similar to crystal lite packets
  • AT&T phone cards
  • Cards of support, especially handmade by keiki
  • Local treats, such as but not limited to: arare, crack seed, local kine cookies, dried seafood snacks, beef jerky, wasabe peas, almost anything from Wholesale Unlimited that our soldiers can't get in Kuwait

* Please no heavy or canned items such as rice or spam, or soldier-specific gifts.
