Statewide, 457 residents have answered the call of public service through more than 160 boards and commissions.
On behalf of the people of Hawai`i, Governor Lingle thanked board members and commissioners for their willingness to participate in decisions that affect their fellow citizens and the state.
The Governor also highlighted the significant impact that each board and commission will have on the state.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world," Governor Lingle said, quoting Margaret Mead, a cultural anthropologist. "Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
